Kin: Chapter Three finished

I decided to just marathon the chapter out while I was in the mood to write, and so I did. This is an interesting change of pace, and hopefully for one particular reader, your view will change on one of the characters.

I spent in total probably about 6 or 7 hours, including food/drink break and an occasional 5-10 minutes of watching My Wife and Kids on Nick@Nite. Now, I'm friggin exhausted, and gonna watch an hour of Hank of the Hill on the new channel for Adult Swim (/cartoon network) before I eventually fall asleep and wake up tomorrow to hopefully have at least two of the reader's opinions by then.

Kane's Wrath: Map Updates

I have fixed the Right Side's team automatic building capture on MX Official Showdown [1v1]... so now no matter who plays on the right side, they also start with their EMP and Tib spikes.

I have also rebalanced the economy of Quadruple Echelon, each team of two now has 80,000 credits of Green Tib at their base, and each of the Blue Tib veins equal 40,000, so therefore the map has gotten a serious influx of credits and is now a bit more enjoyable.

I am beginning work on a new map. You may place your vote if you have read this post.
Options:
Double Echelon
Hold The Line (Classic)
Mutual Interest (Only dev team has seen this map's plan)

If you are an MX member and have an idea for a map, draw it out and let me know.

The Kane's Wrath maplist for Mercenary X has been released.

DA LINK

This is the link to my currently-finalized maplist for Kane's Wrath. I believe that only Mercenary X members will be able to use that link, but if you don't have an account, you can make one (I still think I posted it in the MX section though...)

Anyway, use this maplist to familiarize yourself with the 11 Mercenary X choices, instead of voting for the same ones all the time. Thank you.

The KFA2 GTX460... A New Generation?

I found this article on Kotaku and I had some pretty serious nerdgasm. I may be late to the game but this is the first wirelessly-capable graphic device I know of to enter the market. Some things I've seen about this card make me really think - with this kind of technology, technically speaking, if it were possible to keep a mobo, it's power, this card, and everything else required for a working system in some kind of vacuum or more plausibly, a super-cooled environment - say a freezer even; would that mean we could overclock this card to it's MAXIMUM capabilities and no longer have to worry about cooling? While the components are safely cooled, now with video being able to be wirelessly streamed - everything required for a remote computer let alone some kind of media center...

You could have your wireless input; a mouse and keyboard.
You have your wireless audio output using a (usually) USB dongle or some advanced output.
Now you have wireless video output using the KFA2 GTX460.

Peripheral connection to a case is becoming less and less necessary as this kind of technology advances. Within a few years I can actually foresee homes being built with wifi in mind, being able to house computers in a separate room, and have your entire house powered by them. Your entire digital life can take place at any accessible area in your house; whether it be your television (through tuning or a future technology past things like the Apple TV), pictures, music, or gaming.

Interesting concepts.

From Kotaku: Direct Link
Those spindly extensions are wi-fi antennas, meaning the card can transmit its video signal over thin air. Why, you may ask, would I want to do that? The thinking is that it lets people separate their monitors from their computers, so all you need to work is a screen and a mouse/keyboard, and not the whole kit and kaboodle.

While that may sound a bit stupid, there are a few scenarios where it'd come in handy. Like a media centre rig where you don't have enough power outlets for a TV setup (along with consoles and sound) and a PC. Or if you want a monitor somewhere you wouldn't want a computer lying around, like the kitchen or a workshop.

Kin: Chapter Two available

It's in the Mercenary X dropbox, or emailed through Google to it's appropriate recipients.

If you have yet to read the Prelude and first chapter, they are also in dropbox.

Looking for comments and reviews of it. Enjoy.

Edit: Oh, and on a side note, I'm now level 800+ on the Tukkun's Anti-Idle game.

Sky-Trap in Progress

This is what I'm currently building in Minecraft in the MX server. Yes, it really is.

I've built his water canal traps before, they work really well, so I decided to give this a shot.

A Fun Time Waster

From Kongregate:

This is just one part of it - it's pretty fun. This particular area is called the Battle Arena but this game can operate with as much or little attention as you want to give it - hence the reason it is called an Idling Game (even though the name is Anti-Idle). If you have the power to run a flash game in the background, it's a fun way to be multi-tasking without any actual effort on your behalf.

My game's been running for a little shorter than 2 weeks now. :)

A New Beginning

I have purged the old. And so the new will come. A new era. This blog now has a new purpose, a new goal.

From now on I'll be posting about my new works, new and interesting things I come across, and so forth. Furthermore I'll try again to not let it die.

For now, I'll be posting updates to future events and coming-ups for the clan, Mercenary X - new maps in progress, changes, new / retiring members, etc.

Donations are awesome too. :)
